Significance project management

Hi friends.........today I would like to share my thoughts on significance of project management in the era technology.
"Organizations across the world are undergoing changes and one change is changing the anatomy of projects. Today, the project scope is getting enlarged from locally bound to global environment, accompanied by new and challenging issues. As the geographical boundaries diminish organizations face globalization which has arrived and is here to stay. In the context of globalization, the traditional way of functioning does not work and importantly for a project manager he has to think out of the box to perform. Organizations and their services are moving beyond the geographical demands resulting in a paradigm shift in managing projects, thereby, making t difficult on the part of project manager to obtain the desired outcome.


As the percentage of projects failing are on the rise there are number of root causes becoming the talk of discussion. Be it unreasonable project timelines, poorly defined requirements, poor scope management or unclear project objectives projects are failing due to one or all of these factors. As all these factors play an important role in a project, thus there is no denying a failure at one of these aspects can play havoc for a project. But a question which arises amidst all this is whether it is the ability to manage projects becoming a reason for failed projects. And one thought is that projects are best managed when they are well led. Consequently making the role of project managers vital for the organizations."

 

Project management and the increasing roles of a project manager

With the advent of globalization geographical boundaries have been wiped out. There was a time when the project managers were just concerned over how to manage and control their in house resources in terms of delivery model, cost management, team works and progress updates. And this increasing project scope from local offices to global office environment is creating many new challenges for the project managers. So in the context of globalization, the traditional way of operating will not function anymore. A Project Manager has to think outside the box. The phenomenal ability of companies and their products to move beyond geographical boundaries demands Project Managers to shift their paradigm in managing projects.

With the project requirements changing the role of a project manager has transformed and has become very demanding. It has moved away from the traditional to a more modern role. When the face of a project manager has changed the makeup of project management has gone through number of cosmetic surgeries. It isn’t what it was like a couple of years and now for every project professional PMP certification has become the key. Increasingly project practitioners are challenged to expand their dimension of thoughts and ways of managing risks, resources and deliverables regardless where the project is being implemented or the project resources are from.

To survive the competitiveness of the fast global age Project practitioners need to sense the urgency of breaking away from predictabilities and familiarities. The quicker and more flexible a Project Manager embraces changes and ability to face risks, the better he is in adapting to the new world of uncertainties and develop standards.  And one such standard is PMP certification. In the face of changing project scenarios project management is the call of the day and an increasing standard for organizations across all industries. Project management training and certification trains project professionals to counter project challenges.

Significance of PMP

Hi friends.......................finally I have decided to go with PMP certification considering the fact that project management has grown in stature in last decade or so.Project management is now the necessity of every sector be it telecom, IT, banking, construction, education or anyone else. This certification will certainly open up the opportunities for me to excel in any sector I wish to. Not only private but government organization are also showing up interest in this field. I think that prospects are good and it will be beneficial to do this certification training.
